Police arrest holiday thief

Niagara Regional Police have arrested a man in connection with investigations in both Niagara Falls and St. Catharines.

Police say they received numerous complaints of commercial break-and-enters over the holidays, which resulted in damaged and stolen property for several businesses.

A suspect was identified on social media by members of the public on Thursday, which lead to the arrest of a St. Catharines man.

Simultaneous to that investigation, Niagara Falls police had been conducting a separate investigation in to the same man and were granted judicial authorization to search his residence for both investigations.

As a result of the joint investigation, police charged 29-year-old Andrew Windsor with six counts of breaking and entering and theft in relation to the St. Catharines investigation, as well as possession of stolen property and 20 counts of using of a stolen credit card in relation to the Niagara Falls investigation.

Police say the public directly helped with the success of the investigation.

Windsor is in custody pending a bail hearing on Friday.
