Man charged in St. Catharines stabbing

A man has been charged with assault in connection to a stabbing Thursday morning in St. Catharines.

Police and emergency vehicles responded to a disturbance call to a residence near Old Pine Trail and Vine St. at around 8:30 a.m. Thursday.

Further investigation revealed an altercation led to a 32-year-old man being assaulted and stabbed.  The victim was transported via air ambulance to an out-of-town hospital for treatment of serious but non-life threatening injuries. Two women were also treated at the scene with minor injuries.

Charged is 51-year-old Charles Martin of St. Catharines.

He was held in custody pending a bail hearing Friday at the Robert S. K. Welch Courthouse in St. Catharines.
