What’s open and closed this holiday season?

City facilities will be closed on Dec. 25, 26, 29 and Jan. 1, including city hall, Coronation 50 Plus Recreation Centre, the recreation and culture office at MacBain Community Centre, Niagara Falls museums, transit offices, and the administrative offices at the Municipal Service Centre,

Niagara Falls arenas will be closed on Dec. 25, 26 and Jan. 1. There will be limited skating hours on New Year's Eve.

Niagara Parks attractions are closed on Dec. 25, with the exception of public parks.

Niagara Falls Transit will operate on holiday service hours Dec. 24, 25 and Jan 1. A full holiday transit schedule for Niagara can be found at, niagararegion.ca/transit/holiday-route.aspx

Niagara Region

LCBO stores will be closed on Dec. 25, 26 and Jan 1.

Most major retailers will be closed on Christmas Day.

Most Niagara Regional offices and facilities will be closed on Dec. 25, 26, 27 and Jan. 1, 2 including administrative offices, sexual health clinics, public health, child care centres.

Essential services provided by the Region will remain available throughout the holiday season.

Across the region, garbage collection will be delayed by one day from Dec. 25 to Jan. 5. For example, if your regular collection day is Dec. 25, it will be changed to Dec. 26.

Regional transit will see its last trip Dec. 24 at 6 p.m., and will remain closed Dec. 25, 26, 27 and Jan. 1 and 2.

Canada Post will be closed on Dec. 26 and Jan. 1.

Some extra holiday tips:

Canada Post recommends mailing holiday cards by Dec. 18 for delivery outside the province. For local delivery, mail by Dec. 20, and for delivery within the province, Dec. 19.

Holiday packages sent by Regular Parcel should be mailed by Dec. 11. Xpresspost can be sent by Dec. 20. Priority can be sent by Dec. 21.

Letters to Santa should be sent to Canada Post by Dec. 11. Letters sent after might not arrive by Dec. 25. Make sure to include a return address.

Christmas tree collection is Jan. 13, 2018. Trees must be at the curb by 7 a.m. with all ornaments and decorations removed. Trees wrapped in plastic or buried in snow will not be collected. No artificial trees.

Walmart Supercentres will not be open late Christmas Eve. It will close at 6 p.m.
