The City of St. Catharines is issuing a call to artists to submit artwork proposals for the 2019 City of St. Catharines Annual Juried Exhibit.
“Transformations”, an exhibition that will run from September 2019 to March 2020 at City Hall, asks the artist to investigate the positive and negative transitions and transformations that shape human beings and the world.
“Transformations are all around us, from the change of seasons to the decisions we make on a daily basis,” said Kathleen Powell, acting cultural services supervisor. “We are looking forward to the different interpretations of the theme. Over the years our juried exhibitions have showcased some real thought-provoking art by some incredibly talented artists.”
Submissions of original artwork created within the past three years will be considered from professional, student and amateur artists. Artists will be paid an exhibition fee and their work will be considered for acquisition into the City’s Civic Art Collection.
The submission deadline is Monday, June 24 at 4:30 p.m. More information and detailed submission information is available online at www.stcatharines.ca/callstoartists.
The St. Catharines Public Art Advisory Committee began the exhibit program in 2005 and continue each year with three new exhibits to provide City Hall visitors with original art, historic photos or cultural treasures that reflect St. Catharines’ stories, creative self-expression, experiences and perspectives. The City’s 2018 juried exhibit, Motion, is on display at City Hall until March 15, as well as Abstract City Hall, a piece created during a Willow Arts Community workshop.
