UPDATED: Police investigating homicide after body of Hamilton man is found in West Lincoln

UPDATE 2: Police say they’ve confirmed the rear license plate of the black 2005 Ford Escape as E82KMV.

Anyone with information is asked to contact police at 905-688-4111 ext. 4251 (Badge Number 9896). Anybody who sees this vehicle is asked to call 911 immediately.

 

UPDATE 1: Nov. 8, 2017 — Detectives with the Niagara Regional Police Service Homicide Unit are now treating the discovery of human remains in West Lincoln as a homicide.

At approximately 9:30 a.m. on Wednesday (Nov. 8), the body of 45-year-old Johnathan Bailey of Hamilton was found in the area of South Chippawa and North Chippawa Roads.

Police are currently searching for a 2005 Black Ford Escape, similar to the one pictured above.

Police said the vehicle has aluminum rims and a roof rack and that there is a family decal located on the rear bumper near the license plate, consisting of a father, mother, and son.

Police said they believe the rear license plate is an Ontario license plate but said it could possibly be from Quebec.  There is no front license plate on the vehicle.

Anyone with information is asked to contact police at (905) 688-4111 ext. 4251 (Badge Number 9896). Police say if anybody sights the black Ford Escape in question they should call 911 immediately.

A post mortem was scheduled for Thursday Nov. 9, 2017 at the Hamilton General Hospital.

 

ORIGINAL: Police say forensic detectives are investigating after a body was found in West Lincoln Wednesday morning.
 
At approximately 9:30 a.m., police responded to a report of human remains being found in the area of North Chippawa Rd. and South Chippawa Rd.
 
Police said members of 8-District (Grimsby) uniform and the criminal investigations branch, along with forensics and major crime detectives are investigating.
