A Toronto man is facing a second-degree murder charge in relation the death of a 31-year-old woman in Grimsby on Friday morning.

Charged is 39-year-old Mark Burrell of Toronto, arrested Friday morning after police and paramedics attended a call about a female requiring medical care for serious injuries.

“The female was transported to a local hospital where she has died,” police said in a news release.

Investigators confirmed Burrell and the woman “were known to each other.”

Burrell remains in police custody and will attend a bail hearing Feb. 6 at the Robert S.K. Welch Courthouse in St. Catharines.
