Police are seeking a suspect after a Niagara Falls officer was struck by a vehicle Wednesday afternoon.

The officer was struck by a 2007 black Pontiac Vibe at around 2 p.m., and did not suffer serious injuries.

Police are looking for the 25-year-old driver of the Pontiac, alleged to be Kenneth William Hunter of no fixed address.

The incident occured when police attempted to conduct a traffic stop on the car in a parking lot at Drummond Road and Lundy's Lane.

When stopped, the driver briefly spoke with the officer, before reversing into the officer and a police cruiser and fleeing east on Lundy's Lane.

Later in the day officers found the abandoned Pontiac in Niagara-on-the-Lake (Virgil).

Hunter is described by police as being about 160-pounds, five-foot-four, with brown hair and hazel eyes.

Hunter is wanted for the alleged offences of: assault with a weapon; dangerous operation of a motor vehicle; failure to stop at the scene of an accident; failure to stop for police pursuit; and operation of a vehicle while prohibited.
