St. Catharines man arrested on child pornography charges

A 53-year-old man from St. Catharines was arrested Wednesday (Aug. 30) on multiple child pornography charges.

Allan Jay Fiocca is charged with making child pornography, distrubution of child pornography and possession of child pornography.

The NRPS said in August, members of the Internet Child Exploitation Unit (ICE Unit) began an investigation involving the creation and distribution of digital files of child pornography from within the Niagara Region.

As a result of that investigation — with the assistance of the Technological Crimes Unit and Cyber Crimes Unit — police obtained a warrant and searched a residence in St. Catharines where Fiocca was arrested.

Fiocca was held in custody pending a bail hearing scheduled Aug. 31, at the Robert S. K. Welch Courthouse.

Police said no further information will be released to ensure the integrity of the investigation.

Members of the public can report suspicious internet activities relating to child exploitation to the Niagara Regional Police, or online at cybertip.ca.
