David Green to host 2018 St. Catharines Arts Awards

Local artists will showcase the amazing talent in St. Catharines at this year’s Arts Awards ceremony, hosted by David Green.

The 2018 St. Catharines Arts Awards, presented by event sponsor Meridian Credit Union, is set for Monday, June 4 at the FirstOntario Performing Arts Centre. This year’s Arts Awards will include performances by: Tenja Hagenberg (Established Artist Award nominee); Royal Scottish Country Dance Society (Making a Difference Award nominee); Paul Koshty, member of the Willow Community Support Services (founder and director Shauna MacLeod, Making a Difference Award nominee); Jessica Wilson (Emerging Artist Award nominee); Patricia Vanstone (Established Artist Award nominee); and Melissa-Marie Shriner (Established Artist Award nominee).

“This year’s show shines a spotlight on the breadth and diversity of our home-grown talent,” said Kathleen Powell, Supervisor Historical Services and Acting Supervisor Cultural Services. “The 2018 Arts Awards is going to have everything and is not to be missed.”

This year’s ceremony will be hosted by local stand-up comedian David Green, a co-recipient of the Emerging Artist Award in 2017. Incidental music during the Arts Awards ceremony will be provided by DJ Marinko (Marinko Jareb, Emerging Artist Award nominee).

Twenty-two artists are up for awards in five categories: Emerging Artist, Established Artist, Arts in Education, Making a Difference and Patron of the Arts. The show begins at 7 p.m. Tickets are $13.20 in advance and $18.30 at the door (plus applicable fees and HST). The Mayor’s Art’s Fund Reception is an annual fundraiser celebrating Arts Awards nominees and community sponsors whose contributions support the arts through the St. Catharines Cultural Investment Program.
