Last day for Falls artists to apply for AYEA

Niagara Falls artists — today is the last day to apply for the Allister Young Endowment Award.

Presented by Niagara Falls Culture Canada, the award sees $1,000 awarded to a local artist each year to an support artistic development in the city of Niagara Falls.

The award was named after Allister Young, who donated a 1932 Ford Roadster to be raffled off in 1997. The money raised was used to establish an Arts and Culture Endowment Fund.

To be eligible artists must be an active in any creative arts field in the city of Niagara Falls and have accumulated substantial volunteer hours in the art scene.

Participants must also be 16 or older to apply. Applicants must submit a resume with either a digital portfolio, video, examples of written or performance work, or website address.

Niagara Falls residents ages 16 to 100 are encouraged to apply.

The contest will be judged by the city’s Arts and Culture Committee.

As such, members and relatives of the Arts and Culture Committee are not eligible to apply.
