Coronation Street’s ‘Ken Barlow’ headed to NF Comic Con

William Roache, well known for his portrayal of Ken Barlow in Coronation Street, is headed to Niagara Falls Comic Con in June.

It will be Roacheā€™s first appearance at a Canadian comic convention, of which Niagara Falls Comic Con has become a major hit, drawing thousands of people every year to the Scotiabank Convention Centre to dress up and explore a world of fantasy for a weekend.

The convention, which isnā€™t meant for just comic book fans, offers people a chance to explore exhibits related to new and old movies and TV shows, comic books and a wide branch of other forms of entertainment, as well as meet celebrities.

Chris Dabrowski, owner of Niagara Falls Comic Con, said he thinks the addition of Roache to the 2018 celebrity line-up will draw an even more diverse crowd this year.

ā€œThe convention already caters to fans of a wide variety of genres, this just adds something a little bit different to the mix for those who might not want be as into the comic side of things,ā€ said Dabrowski.

ā€œWeā€™ve got a little something for everyone ā€” Dr. Who fans, Star Wars, WWE, and of course Marvel, DC and a bunch of other independent comics. Weā€™ve got artists, writers, cosplayers, set designers. Weā€™ve got food, LARP and beer ā€¦ (Comic Con) really is a unique experience and just about anybody can find something they enjoy.ā€

More celebrity guests are still to be announced, but so far Roache will be joined by notable names like: Jonathan Frakes (Willam T. Riker on Star Trek: The Next Generation), Michael Rooker (The Walking Dead, Guardians of the Galaxy, Mallrats), Dee Snider (Twisted Sister), Chris Sarandon (Jack Skellington), Trish Stratus (WWE), Dean Cain (Lois & Clark), and many more.
