Enjoy the vibrant beauty of the lake at Pumphouse summer exhibition
This is Tara Korkmaz's acrylic painting titled "Temporary Waters," which will be featured in her exhibition at the Niagara Pumphouse Arts Centre.

Each time artist Tara Korkmaz is creating a new work of art, she’s actually extending an invitation to the viewer, asking them to reflect on their surroundings and appreciate the place and time in which they’re living.

Now, this summer, her pieces depicting life in Niagara-on-the-Lake will be on display at the Niagara Pumphouse Arts Centre in a solo exhibition at the Joyner Gallery.

Korkmaz’s exhibition “By the Lake, on the Lake,” running from June 26 to July 26, depicts the cycle of renewal and growth experience by Lake Ontario and showcases the beauty and serenity of this land.

Her work, to which she takes an interdisciplinary approach blending analogue and digital techniques, is focused on creating contemporary dialogue in the art space.

“I aim to inspire new ways of seeing the ordinary and taking in the extraordinary, to appreciate differences and to marvel about every peculiar mark and lurking pigment,” said Korkmarz in a media release.

“Ultimately, I want my audiences to dive into my work, see the brighter side of the events and find pleasure in acquiring my art.”

The public is cordially invited to the opening reception on Sunday, July 7 from 2 to 4 p.m., at the arts centre.

Attendees will have the opportunity to personally engage with Korkmaz, learn about the inspiration behind her captivating pieces and connect with fellow art appreciators.

Remarks by the artist will start at 2:30 p.m., offering insight into the themes and creative process behind her artwork.

This special event is supported by Château des Charmes, who will be providing an assortment of fine wines for guests to enjoy as they immerse themselves in the transformative power of art.
