Glenn Murray had the hot hand Tuesday, carding a 1-over par 37 to take top spot in the weekly Woofs league at the Niagara-on-the-Lake Golf Club.
He was helped along with a birdie 2 on the par-3 fourth hole. That shot also won the closest to the pin contest.
Murray followed it with a birdie on the par-4 sixth hole, matching Mike Mott’s score. They shared the hidden hole prize.
Peter Falconer won low net with a net score of 36.
In last Thursday’s men’s league play, Dan Regan was atop the leader board thanks to a 1-under 35.
John VanderHoeven was second three shots behind at 38. Johnson Hu was low net winner (30), closely followed by Regan (31).
Other prize winners were: James Grigjanis-Meusel (closest to the pin on #4), Nick Elia (longest drive on #8), Art Wosinski (longest putt on #8) and Ted Wiens (closest to the pin on #9).
Gross skins winners, all for birdies, were: Al Kavanagh (#2), Tom Elltoft (#3), Grigjanis-Meusel (#4 and #9), Rob Reimer (#7) and Regan (#8). Each skin was worth $15.
Net skins, worth $60, went to Marty Nixon (#1), Elltoft (#3) and Ron Planche (#5).
Deborah Williams was tops in Tuesday’s nine-hole women’s league, recording both the best gross score (46) and net (33).
Sue Sherk was second low gross (49), followed by Sharron Marlow (52).
Marlow and Kathy Taylor tied for second low net (37) and Julie Smethurst was third (39).
Sherk won the closest to the line prize on #2 and Peggy Larder sank the longest putt on #8. Cathy Saytar notched a birdie on #2.
Brandi Currie was the top shooter in Monday’s business women’s league, with 44.
Other winners were: Wendy Edwards (longest drive on #1), Jean O’Gorman (closest to the 150 marker on #2), Charlotte Zych (closest to the pin on #4), Veronica Yeager-Bartlett (longest putt on #7 and Jill Davies (closest to the pin in two on #9.
Yolanda Henry continued her strong play this season in the Tuesday 18-hole women’s league, winning both low gross (88) and low net (72). Her hot putter helped, as she needed just 29 putts on her round.
Tracey Peters (96) and Diana Dimmer (97) were next in low gross. Peters and Shelby Leeder (both 73) recorded second low net and May Chang was third (74).
Peters birdied both #2 and #6, while Leeder added one on #9. Judy Mantle chipped in for a birdie on #13.
Mantle and Leeder were second in needing the fewest putts (33), ahead of Carroll Baker (35).
Lisa Allen was closest to the line on #2, Cathy Murray was closest to the pin on #4 and Henry unleashed the longest drive on #14. Barb Hastings was closest to the pin in two shots on #18.
