The Niagara-on-the-Lake Chamber of Commerce is holding a ceremony to commemorate lives lost in the horrific terror attacks of 9/11.

The ceremony will take place at the cenotaph clock tower on Queen Street on Saturday, beginning at 8:35 a.m.

Attendees are asked to arrive early so the ceremony can begin promptly.

The commemoration will begin with words from chamber president Eduardo Lafforgue and Lord Mayor Betty Disero, followed by remarks from local politicians, followed by a lowering of the Canadian and U.S. flags by chiefs of Niagara's emergency crews.

At 8:45 a.m., the time the first plane flew into the World Trade Centre, Amazing Grace will play as the flags are lowered, followed by two minutes of silence.

Folllowing the silence will be the playing of both the Canadian and American national anthems.

The ceremony marks 20 years since the devastation of the 9/11 attacks on the U.S., which killed nearly 3,000 people and injured another 25,000.
