Niagara Parks’ Rooted festival is in full swing with its third installment, Edible Garden, taking place next weekend.

Rooted is a month-long series of events hosted each weekend in September. It aims to connect people with the natural, culinary and cultural aspects of Niagara.

A mix of free family events and paid workshops and tours take participants around Niagara area farms, wineries and gardens for interactive and hands-on experiences, diving deeper into Niagara’s natural offerings.

On Sept. 21 and 22, Niagara Parks will present workshops touching on brewing kombucha, fermenting sauerkraut, foraging, and botanical soap making, among many more culinary inspired events.

Free family friendly events include Cupcakes with Prudence all weekend and a plant sale at the Botanical Garden School of Horticulture on Saturday.

Participants already experienced Art in the Garden last weekend, and Pollinators, which kicked off September’s festival.

Closing out the festival will be workshops and activities centered on Creativity, Mindfulness and Well-Being, which will take place on Sept. 28 and 29.

Tickets for the next events and a detailed itinerary can be found through the Niagara Parks website.
