Welland convenience store robbed

A Welland convenience store was the victim of an armed robbery on Friday.

Police say the incident occurred around 10 p.m. when a suspect entered Golden Variety convenience store at 790 Clare Ave. and confronted the lone male clerk with a knife.

The suspect is described as a white male, around six feet tall and between 185 and 200 pounds. 

Police said the suspect was last seen running south on the east side of Clare Ave. 

No one was injured as a result of the robbery.
