Collision claims life of teen girl

A two vehicle collision that occurred in St. Catharines Wednesday night has claimed the life of a 17-year-old girl and left two others with serious injuries.

The collision occurred around 10:15 p.m. on Pelham Rd. west of Seventh St. Louth in St. Catharines.

Emergency vehicles attended the scene and police determined a 17-year-old male had been driving a 2006 Mazda 3 eastbound on Pelham Rd. when he lost control of the vehicle and crossed into the westbound lane, colliding with a westbound 2017 Dodge Ram pickup truck.

The pick-up was driven by a 52-year-old female from Lincoln and contained one passenger. Both were taken to the hospital with for minor injuries.

There were four occupants in the Mazda. A 17-year-old female passenger was killed, while the driver and one other occupant suffered serious injuries and were transferred to an out-of-town hospital. A fourth occupant suffered non-life threatening injuries.
