Man arrested for attempting to lure woman to sex trade

A 39-year-old man has been charged after allegedly attempting to lure a young adult female into the sex trade.

Police say the woman was at a shopping establishment in the city of St. Catharines, Ontario, when a man approached her under the guise of offering employment.

In communication that followed, the offer changed to an attempt to recruit the woman into the sex trade.

On Tuesday, police arrested charged Sachin Mehta of St. Catharines with attempting to commit an indictable offence.

Police believe there might be other victims who were approached using the same recruiting offer or contacted with the following emails:

brockstudent2017@hotmail.com

Mehta was held in custody pending a bail hearing on Wednesday at the Robert S. K. Welch Courthouse in St. Catharines.
