Return of NC Dress for Success program

Niagara College staff are preparing for the second annual Dress For Success clothing giveaway for students Jan. 17 and 18, aimed to help students put forward a professional image in job interviews train them to dress for a variety of fields of work.

The giveaway will be held at both the Welland and Niagara-on-the-Lake campuses, where college students will be able to pick up professional clothing free of charge.

All clothes have been donated from the college community, have been collected by the school’s Careers Services staff who spent weeks seeking donations.

Donated items include suits, dresses, shoes and business-casual accessories.

“One of the key messages we will be sharing with students is that looking professional and put-together is vital when applying for jobs and – like a polished resume – can help them stand out from the crowd,” said NC career consultant Monique Morin in a press release.

“For many students struggling with financial challenges, purchasing new clothing is not an option; this event is designed to help them present themselves well without straining their finances.”

The giveaway will be held at the Welland Campus on Jan. 17 and at the Niagara-on-the-Lake Campus on Jan. 18, both from 10 a.m to 2 p.m.
