Police are seeking public assistance identifying a vehicle linked to a hit-and-run that occurred in Niagara-on-the-Lake on Dec. 29.

At around 8:30 p.m. on the night of the incident, officers responded to reports that a 48-year-old cyclist had been struck by a vehicle on East-West Line near Concession 2.

The driver of the vehicle did not stop or remain at the scene of the collision and failed to render any assistance to the victim.

The cyclist, a resident of Niagara-on-the-Lake, was able to make his way to a nearby residence to call for assistance and was then transported to a hospital with serious but non-life-threatening injuries.

Police say the suspect vehicle is silver in colour and has been identified as a either a Chevrolet Cobalt (2005 to 2010) or Pontiac Pursuit (2005-2009).

The right front bumper of the vehicle will be cracked and missing a piece of the plastic molding and the right passenger side mirror (black in colour) will be missing.

As well as public assistance, police are also seeking the help of any automotive shops who have done repairs to a vehicle that matches this damage profile within the two past weeks, or shops which are currently repairing a similar vehicle.

Anyone with any information is asked to contact police at 905-688-4111, ext. 9301, or anonymously, through Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.

This collision remains under investigation.
