GALLERY & VIDEO: NOTL Candlelight Stroll 2017

The annual Niagara-on-the-Lake Candlelight Stroll lit Queen St. red and green Friday night as hundreds, if not thousands, gathered with candles in hand to celebrate the holiday season and support local families.

Each year the stroll helps support a child living with disabilities. This year’s recipient was eight-year-old Megan Dyck, who lives with Mosaic Trisomy 8, a rare chromosomal abnormality that can affect many parts of the body.

It was announced at the stroll that an anonymous donor would match the funds raised by candle sales to support the Dyck family.

In addition to supporting a local child, the stroll also accepts donations for Newark Neighbours, a community charity organization in NOTL which provides for low-income families in Niagara.

Performances this year included local singers, bell choirs, barbershop quartets, the Salvation Army Band, the Fort George Junior Fife and Drum Corps, Grace United Church, Norm Haigh on bagpipes and Yellow Door Theatre Company.
