Errant ice boom pontoon tied down
The ice boom pontoon that travelled to Lake Ontario from Lake Erie will be retrieved from the Canadian shore "in a few days," says an official with the New York Power Authority. Donald O'Connor photo

A American-owned ice boom pontoon that travelled over Niagara Falls from Lake Erie en route to a resting spot on the shore of Lake Ontario in NOTL should be retrieved "in a few days."

An official with the New York Power Authority said the agency has secured the errant by tying it to trees on the embankment near the new Niagara-on-the-Lake sewage treatment plant.

NOTL photographer Donald O'Connor stumbled across the two-ton pontoon about 10 days ago and then snapped a new photo of the tied-down metal cylinder this week. If you look closely, you can see white rope near both ends of the pontoon.
