A 79-year-old Grimsby woman is suffering from life-threatening injuries after being struck by a Ford F550 pickup truck at the intersection of Christie St. and Olive St. in Grimsby on Tuesday.

Emergency vehicles responded to the scene at around 4:13 p.m.

Police said their investigation determined the collision occurred while the female pedestrian was attempting to cross the intersection at the same time as the Ford truck attempted to turn left from Olive St. onto Christie St.

The truck was driven by a 20 year-old male from Jordan Station and occupied by a 28 year-old male passenger from St.Catharines.

The woman was transported to a trauma centre out of the region where she continues to be treated for her injuries.

The 20 year-old driver of the Ford and his 28 year-old passenger were not injured.

Any witnesses to the collision are asked to contact police at (905) 688-4111, extension 5500.

This collision remains under investigation by Detectives of the Niagara Regional Police’s Collision Reconstruction Unit.
