PHOTO GALLERY: Filming in NOTL

In case you missed it, production crews from Hideaway Pictures and HP Holiday Calendar Productions Inc. are filming a Christmas movie called “Holiday Calendar” in Niagara-on-the-Lake this month.

The filming is taking place from April 2 to April 6 on Queen St. and April 9 to 13 on Market St.

Many NOTL locations will be featured, such as the Royal George Theatre and several shops, one of which has been turned into a camera store called “Super Shots” for the purpose of the movie.

David DiBrina, film production and development associate for Hideaway Pictures, said the movie itself is about a woman who strives to be a photographer, all while visiting locations on a calendar her grandmother left for her.

He said the working film title is Holiday Calendar, though that could change.

The film is not set in Canada.

The town and production crew advise NOTL residents that an environmentally friendly snow solution will be sprayed on the sidewalk and street, only in the areas that will appear on camera.

The artificial snow will disappear naturally with a few hours of sunshine, said a town news release.

The company, cast, and crew said they are working with the town and local businesses to ensure “disruptions to the public are kept to a minimum.”

“On behalf of town council and staff I would like to welcome HP Holiday Calendar Productions Inc. to Niagara-on-the-Lake and wish them all the best as they film their upcoming movie,” said Lord Mayor Pat Darte.

“I am thrilled to know that Niagara-on-the-Lake’s beauty and charm are recognized by the film industry, and I look forward to seeing our town featured, once again, in a Christmas Netflix movie.”
